Pedro Gonzalez

Pedro Gonzalez is the director and founder of Viveza Dance Company. He started exploring dance back in middle school when he was introduced to break dancing. Pedro practiced break dancing for several years until life events caused him to take a break from dance.

Fortunately enough, Pedro was re-introduced to dance in August 2010 and has been dancing ever since. He first started with Latin Ballroom where he was introduced to Salsa On1, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, and other styles of ballroom dances. Pedro trained in Latin ballroom for over 1.5 years when he finally decided to move forward into exploring the world of urban style Salsa, Bachata, and Cha Cha dancing at Arizona State University, this is also when Pedro was introduced to Salsa On2.

He trained for 3 years under the guidance of David Olarte (Director of STILO Dance & one of USA’s representatives in the 2013 World Latin Cup in Miami, FL). Pedro’s journey with David made him see the Latin dance world differently. It was at this point of time that Pedro knew he wanted to pursue dance and make this activity a lifelong investment.

During his time with Olarte, Pedro Gonzalez was offered an opportunity to direct Alma Phoenix Bachata where he would receive additional training by Gaby Equiz (a world champion of Bachata and director of the largest and most award-winning Latin dance company in the world). Pedro took that opportunity and trained with both David and Gaby for 3 years when he then decided to make the biggest leap of his dance career, starting Viveza Dance Company. This was the beginning of a new chapter for Pedro.

His personal growth and training continued through private lessons and attending classes. His first Viveza choreo was in 2016 and he recruited 3 members to perform it . Viveza thrived the first year and has continued to grow to this day.

Viveza has now opened the door to new members and is continually growing. We have been invited to teach and perform at events locally and across North America; and now that Pedro has partnered with Sabrina (One of our first members), we have no doubt that our team will continue growing.
